Overview
Environmental technology and resource management is an interdepartmental degree course offered by the Faculties of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The Bachelor’s degree imparts a sound knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer science, construction technology, and ecology. Students can choose between the specialist areas environmental engineering and environmental planning (focusing on environmental management, water management, and foundation engineering) and sustainable process and environmental engineering (process engineering, resource management, methods engineering). You also acquire legal and business knowledge.

Environmental technology and resource management is an interdepartmental degree course offered by the Faculties of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The Bachelor’s degree imparts a sound knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer science, construction technology, and ecology. Students can choose between the specialist areas environmental engineering and environmental planning (focusing on environmental management, water management, and foundation engineering) and sustainable process and environmental engineering (process engineering, resource management, methods engineering). You also acquire legal and business knowledge. In the Master’s degree in environmental technology and resource management, specialisation is possible in the areas of processes and products, energy and economy, infrastructure and transport, water and soil, and environmental engineering/environmental planning. Graduates have diverse career opportunities in industry, in the service sector, in self-employment, and in public service.

Compulsory subjects:
mathematics, numerical mathematics, computational engineering, mechanics, fluid mechanics, chemistry and chemistry laboratory, physics, electrical engineering, urban water management, technical microbiology, environmental chemistry, resource management, construction engineering, environmental health, business administration, law of building contracts, environmental law, subject-specific practical placement (five weeks)
Soft skills:
language training as offered by the RUB, project management, cost accounting and pricing, etc.
Subareas of environmental engineering, and resource management
Sustainable process and environmental engineering:
thermodynamics, fundamentals of materials, material applications, energy management, energy engineering and RM, process engineering and RM, installation engineering, apparatus engineering, heat and material transmission, fundamentals of measurement engineering, fundamentals of control engineering, fundamentals of fluid power equipment, environmental technology, and resource management laboratory
Environmental engineering and environmental planning:
building materials technology, structural analysis and structural design, reinforced and prestressed concrete construction, structural physics, soil mechanics and foundation engineering, traffic planning and engineering, traffic route engineering, waste water drainage and water distribution, hydrology and water management, environmental engineering, and ecology
Application
General requirement: You need at least a high school degree to study this programme. For admission and successful studies a high standard of German language skills is required.
