Details

One of the biggest sports faculties in Germany

The faculty is one of the biggest sports faculties in Germany. Aimed at “non-school sports occupations”, it leads to a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in six semesters: the areas of specialisation in this one-subject Bachelor’s degree are a) recreation/training/health; b) sports management; c) rehabilitation/prevention.

The one-subject Master’s degree (Master of Sports Science, M.Sc.) specialises in diagnostics and intervention in sports and sports consulting. In the two-subject Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of Arts), in addition to sport, a second subject is studied for the teaching certificate for grammar schools and comprehensive schools.

An entrance test is a prerequisite for admission to the course. Information on dates and required attainments can be found on the homepage of the faculty.

Conception, organisation, and design of sport

The Bachelor’s degree in the subject sports science B.Sc. gives you the necessary substantive and methodological foundations for professional practice, so that you can successfully gain a foothold in the broad professional field of the conception, organisation, and design of sport. After the first three to four semesters, you can specialise in one of these areas: prevention and rehabilitation, recreational health training, or sports management. By choosing study modules from other faculties in the so-called optional area you also acquire further key professional qualifications (for example business English, presentation skills, application-oriented data processing).

The contents of the degree course include activity fields in the individual area, sports games, natural sports and other activity fields, the anatomical and physiological foundations of physical activity, exercise and training, society and sport, and sport and exercise in the educational process. This is supplemented by content in one of the chosen areas of specialisation prevention and rehabilitation through sport, recreation-health-training, or sport management.
