Details

The general aims of the programme are:

  • enhance and broaden the knowledge of philosophy that has already been gained during the B.A. programme and which will form the basis of the theoretical knowledge required by a future teacher of the subject,
  • to familiarise students with the history of the teaching of philosophy and of the subjects Philosophy / Practical Philosophy, with the relevant classroom conditions, with the requirements of the curriculum, with media and methodology as well as with the theoretical concepts connected with the teaching of philosophy and its methodology (e.g. “philosophising with children and teenagers”),
  • to impart essential skills which will enable students to plan lessons and reflect on the learning processes involved in the subject of philosophy,
  • to give students the opportunity to teach their first lessons, to plan, test and reflect on their own class plans (within the context of their central work placement),
  • to motivate students so that they are able to actively take part in the necessary processes of school and class development. At the same time students will be made aware of the importance of an education which not only reflects basic social and cultural values but which is of relevance for their own classes and for the world outside.

During the M.Ed. programme, students will acquire specific subject, methodological and didactic competences relevant to the job as a teacher. The programme is divided into 4 modules. Study regulations for the subject „Philosophy/Practical Philosophy“ provide for one methodologically oriented module and three philosophical modules which integrate methodological and philosophical approaches.
