Medicine - State Examination



Overview
The Medicie program is legally prescribed by the Order Regulating Licences to Practise Medicine and includes two stages: after studying the basic subjects and the first section of the medical examination (Physikum), this is followed by intense clinical bedside teaching, accompanied by seminars in clinical and theoretical subjects. After a practical year in a hospital, the second section is concluded with the medical examination.

Details
Through a nationally unique scope of 3,000 patient beds in several local hospitals, with us you gain more insight into your later working life than in highly specialised university hospitals. Practical relevance and patient focus are also promoted by teaching in small groups.
Preclinical degree section (two years):
Practical physics for doctors, practical chemistry for doctors, practical biology for doctors, practical physiology, practical biochemistry/molecular biology, course of macroscopic anatomy, course of microscopic anatomy, course of medical psychology and medical sociology, physiology seminar, biochemistry/molecular biology seminar, anatomy seminar, medical psychology and medical sociology seminar, practical introduction to clinical medicine, practical study of career fields, practical medical terminology, seminars with clinical relevance, and integrated seminars including clinical subjects.
Clinical degree section (three years):
General medicine, anaesthesiology, occupational medicine, social medicine, ophthalmology, surgery, dermatology, venereology, gynaecology, obstetrics, otolaryngology, human genetics, hygiene, microbiology, virology, internal medicine, paediatrics, clinical chemistry, laboratory diagnostics, neurology, orthopaedics, pathology, pharmacology, toxicology, psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychosomatic medicine, forensic medicine, urology, epidemiology, medical biometry and medical computer science, history, theory and ethics of medicine, health economics, health system, public health care, infectiology, immunology, clinical-pathologic conference, clinical environmental medicine, medicine of aging and the elderly, emergency medicine, clinical pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, prevention, health promotion, imaging techniques, radiation treatment/protection, rehabilitation, physics, medicine, naturopathic treatments.
Additional attainments through participation in the practical courses in internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, gynaecology, general medicine.
Application
General requirement: You need at least a high school degree to study this programme. For admission and successful studies a high standard of German language skills is required.
