Seven areas of specialisation
Numerous occupations await mechanical engineers: there are the classic areas of application in construction, production, research and development, project planning, sales, and many other individual areas. In recent years, however, demand has primarily been for engineers who are not highly specialised in detailed areas, but rather for managers of technical issues and problems in large contexts. The degree was designed to address the possibilities of this versatile professional use. In the first four semesters of the Bachelor’s degree, the focus is on the fundamentals of mathematics, science and engineering.
Based on this grounding, students then specialise in one of the following seven areas: energy and process engineering, computational engineering, construction and automation technology, vehicle propulsion technology, applied mechanics, micro-engineering, and materials. In the specialisation areas, students have the opportunity to develop their own personal and unique profile through numerous options.
Bachelor 1st -4th semester (the same for all students)
Mathematics, numerical mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering mechanics, materials, materials practical, informatics for mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, thermodynamics, design engineering, measurement engineering, control engineering, fluid mechanics
Bachelor 5th -7th semester (depending on specialisation)
Courses from the seven areas of specialisation mentioned plus industrial management, business administration, 20-week practical placement
