Details
Two-subject Master programme:
During the course of the programme the basic knowledge in Korean Studies is revised, reinforced and supplemented. A number of exemplary approaches enhance students' methodology in cultural studies and philology until the students' grasp of methodology reaches a suitably high level. At the same time the students' ability in reading modern and pre-modern forms of the language is extended.
The programme is divided into three topic-orientated modules (I-III) dealing with history, intellectual history, and literature (four hours each) as well as one reading module (IV, two reading courses).
Each of the topic-orientated modules consists of one seminar and a corresponding reading course. The seminar focuses on practising abilities at an analytical, productive and communicational level through oral presentations, involving presentations of shorter elaborations of specific aspects as well as their discussion within the study group .
The reading modules train the students ability to deal with a higher volume of texts. In addition to collective reading, students will reproduce texts prepared at home and practice reading for gist, etc.
It is possible to spend one semester at a foreign university and transfer academic credits earned there.
One-subject Master programme:
In the one-subject model the same areas of knowledge in Korean Studies as in the two-subject model are covered but supplemented by an emphasis on Japan or China.
