The degree in Catholic theology includes various disciplines with different approaches - some more historical, others more systematic, practical or exegetical - and different working methods, making the degree altogether very diverse and varied. The Faculty offers various qualifications (Master of Arts/Magistra Theologiae, ecclesiastical degree, teaching qualification).

Studies with a great deal of variety

The degree in Catholic theology includes various disciplines, some with a more historical orientation, some more systematic, practical, or exegetical. The different working methods add extra variety to the degree. The Faculty offers various qualifications (Master of Arts/Magistra Theologiae, ecclesiastical degree, teaching qualification). The graded Bachelor’s/Master’s degree is aimed, above all at non-ecclesiastical and non-school professions, for example, in adult education, the media or in the private sector.

First degree section
philosophy, church history, fundamental theology, liturgics

Second degree section
Old Testament, New Testament, Christian social studies

Third degree section
dogmatics, moral theology, canon law, practical theology, philosophico-theological border issues

Application

General requirement: You need at least a high school degree to study this programme. For admission and successful studies a high standard of German language skills is required.

There are no restrictions.
