Details
Geography opens up many career fields
At the Geography Institute of the Ruhr-Universität, four areas of study are represented: human geography, physical geography, geomatics, geography teaching methods.
After the one-subject degree (B.Sc. And M.Sc.), you can work in numerous occupational fields in business and management: alongside the traditional activities in urban and regional planning, in environmental protection and nature conservation or development work, branches such as press and public relations, marketing, real estate, tourism, publishing, media, and the generation and management of geographic data are becoming increasingly relevant. These occupations are also open to graduates of the two-subject degree course.
After the two-subject Bachelor’s degree, alongside the one-subject Master’s degree, you also have the option to study for the Master of Education aimed at a career of teaching at grammar and comprehensive schools.
Please note: field work and study trips create additional financial burdens.
After the Bachelor’s degree, you can continue the two-subject degree in geography with the Master of Education (teaching certificate for grammar schools and comprehensive schools). The modules in the two-subject Bachelor’s degree are largely derived from the modules and courses of the B.Sc.
The course contents are geography in study and practice, physical geography, fundamentals of geosciences, human geography, economic geography or social and political geography, geoinformatics, regional geography with a large study trip, optional module physical or human geography.
