From school teaching to adult education

The broadly conceived basic degree in Educational Science teaches initial career-oriented skills, especially in the field of adult education on the one hand and educational organisation on the other. As an alternative to a subsequent Master’s degree in educational science, students may also select the Master’s degree “Master of Education”. This M.Ed. Degree is equivalent to the old state examination and entitles the holder to enter the probationary teaching period (as a student teacher) for grammar schools and comprehensive schools.

In the second half of the Bachelor’s degree, this basic orientation is supplemented by the first professionally oriented courses. In view of the wide but diffuse spectrum of non-school fields of educational work, especially the areas of adult education and vocational training, as well as the seminal field of educational consulting of organisations are offered.

The Educational Science degree covers the following areas: education and training, development and learning, socialisation, education and society, international development of education and intercultural pedagogy, learning and teaching, non-school educational practice fields, adult education/further training, educational consulting of organisations, techniques of scientific work (with tutorial), statistics for educationists.

Application

General requirement: You need at least a high school degree to study this programme. For admission and successful studies a high standard of German language skills is required.
