Overview
General requirements:
The M.Ed. prepares students for a career as a teacher of English. Students should have an active interest in the subject English and its teaching in schools. Pedagogical experience with children and adolescents as well as good communicative skills are helpful.
Language requirements (for foreign applicants):
English language skills at level C1 of the Common European Reference Framework are expected.
The certification of Latin language skills (“Latinum”) is mandatory.
Different language requirements may be expected in the second (school) subject studied. Please obtain information about the foreign language requirements of the second subject by consulting the relevant programme counsellor.

Details
The aim of the programme is to impart those skills that are relevant to the teaching English in higher secondary schools. Students are therefore taught established academic insights into the language, literature and culture of Great Britain and the USA which have application to the school curricula. In addition the students' practical language skills are developed and extended.
The following modules are mandatory:
The M.Ed. module in English Studies (consisting of a lecture, a practical course, and a seminar from the areas literature/cultural studies or linguistics/languages for special purposes) ends with a final oral module examination in English.
The module Language Practice consists of two practical courses (Grammar, Communication, or Translation).
Depending on the second subject the module Didactics of Foreign Language Teaching consists of two or three courses.
The module Didactics of Literature cosists of a lecture or practical course and a seminar.
Application
Requirement: You need a counseling interview with the programme´s student counselor before registration. In some Master-Programmes there are more specific requirements. Please contact your student counselor.
More requirements: For admission you need a second subject since all MEd programmes are 2-subject programmes.
