The research topics range from questions of the chemical origin of life and molecular functions of memory processes to the solution of practical problems from the field of modern surface technology and catalysis research with industrial partners.
We offer the following courses: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in the subjects chemistry and biochemistry, PhD in the Graduate School of Chemistry and Biochemistry and a two-subject Bachelor with the options of then taking either a Master of Science or the Master of Education with the aim of becoming a teacher.
Part I of the Bachelor’s degree (1st-4th semester) teaches you the essential content of the core subjects general chemistry, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and physical chemistry and the related natural sciences subjects mathematics and physics in seven mandatory modules. Apart from the classical canon of subjects, in this part of the course you are already introduced to the subjects biochemistry, technical chemistry, and theoretical chemistry in the mandatory module special chemistry.
Part II of the Bachelor’s degree extends your education in chemistry (5th and 6th semester). Depending on your choices, you also acquire basic knowledge in other subjects: chemical synthesis, physical chemistry, and structural analysis - in the course chemicals law/toxicology and an additional optional subject. You can choose from the subjects analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry, and theoretical chemistry.
