In the degree, you receive an interdisciplinary education and learn classical and modern methods in theory and practice.
The single-subject degree course is a consecutive course with two degrees, the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) after the sixth semester and the Master of Science (M.Sc.) after a further four semesters. The Bachelor of Science is a first professional degree.
In the first four semesters of the Bachelor’s degree you get a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of biology (zoology and cell biology, botany and biodiversity, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics, cell physiology, animal and plant physiology). You also attend compulsory courses in chemistry, physics, and mathematics. In the fifth and sixth semester, this knowledge base is then extended in experimentally-oriented block courses in optional areas.
