Overview
The B.A. degree in Biology consists of six modules. In the three basic modules zoology and cell biology, botany and biodiversity, as well as physiology and molecular biology, you get a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of biology. The modules of zoology and botany are supplemented by the floristic and faunistic seminars in the university grounds. The two-subject degree can be studied with the final qualification “M.Ed.” (teaching certificate for grammar schools and comprehensive schools).

Classical and modern methods in theory and practice
The choice of courses offered in the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology is wide ranging. In total there are twenty-four departments or work groups with different research focuses in the areas of neurobiology, structural biology, molecular botany and microbiology, biodiversity, and biotechnology. Many work groups research predominantly in the area of molecular biology.
In the degree, you receive an interdisciplinary education and learn classical and modern methods in theory and practice.
The B.A. degree in biology consists of six modules. In the three basic modules zoology and cell biology, botany and biodiversity, and physiology and molecular biology, you get a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of biology. The modules of zoology and botany are supplemented by the floristic and faunistic seminars in the university grounds. The knowledge is extended by an additional experimentally oriented seminar (compulsory optional subject), which can be attended from the third semester, and by an additional advanced or special module (compulsory optional subject). The degree is concluded with a Bachelor’s thesis, which is written in one of the two subjects.
Application
General requirement: You need at least a high school degree to study this programme. For admission and successful studies a high standard of German language skills is required.
