Computer Centres
The facilities of the Ruhr University Bochum offer a multitude of computers with Internet access for student use. The list shown below features an overview of some computer centres accessible to all students.
Using the Computer Centres of the Department of Economics, the Main Computer Centre (Rechenzentrum) and the University Library
In oder to use these computers you are required to log on with your Internet access identification (login-ID and password). You will receive the Internet access identification with your enrolment. Before using the Internet you are required to activate your access identification with your student ID-card (chipcard) at one of the self-service terminals. During this activation procedure you will need to assign a primary password for your Internet access. In case you have not yet received an Internet access identification, please contact the service desk of the main computer centre (Rechenzentrum) in the building NA 02/297. Opening hours: Mo-Fri 10.00am to 12.00am and from 1.30pm until 3.30pm, Tel: 0234-3224025.
Using the Computer Centres of the English Department and the Self Training Centre
The above mentioned internet access identification is not necessary when using these two computer centres. For computers in the English Department a registration is required only once before the first logon. It is possible to complete this registration on the website of the English Department. In the Self Training Centre (Selbstlernzentrum) no registration applies. The password for using the computers and the internet is SLZ (in capital letters).
