  • Ministries and government agencies, particularly those concerned with economic affairs,
  • International organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the European Central Bank (and other central banks) as well as other European Union institutions,
  • Think tanks, consultancy firms and economic advisory services,
  • The private sector, especially in financial institutions such as banks and international firms,
  • Research institutes and universities.

In all these settings, employers will value your understanding of decision-making, your acquired skills, and your experience of viewing problems in the national and international context.

Master student Michaela van den Berg

"In my opinion the master program in economics at the Ruhr-University Bochum matches perfectly to students who are interested in an analytic study course. There is a great variety of modules you can choose to deepen your economic knowledge. It is possible to become generalist or specialist. You will be well prepared to work in research institutions as well as in companies which look for potential university graduates with analytical and numerical skills."
