Familiengerechte Hochschule

Children and Family

Since 2006, the Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) has been certified as a "Family Friendly University". Childcare, eLearning, and mentor scheme are examples for the ways in which the compatibility of work/study and family can be improved at the RUB. In future, the university will continue the efforts to advance this compatibility.

The reconciliation of family and working life challenges many (becoming) mothers and fathers. The questions they ask themselves do not merely regard parents. Profit from the exchange with fellow parents in terms of the mentoring programme for parents offered by the IFB:

Charter Family in the University

By signing the "Family in the University" charter in June 2015, the Ruhr University became a member of the Best Practice Club of the same name. This Club is a network consisting of 69 institutions of the German-speaking university and science system. All member universities stand up for self-commitment to define family orientation as a distinctive profile element of the university and to pursue demanding standards for the compatibility of studies, work and science with family responsibilities. Joining the network, the RUB continues its long-term commitment to the work-life balance of ist students and employees. The charter is available in German on the homepage of the Best Practice Club:
