Equal Opportunities in Science and Research
For our science staff members, RUB offers a special mentoring programme, continuing education programmes and a platform to engage with other professionals.
Meet the Female Faculty
At the beginning of each year this event brings together female doctoral candidates and postdocs with experienced academics for lectures and informal chats in order to learn about career options in academia.
Mentoring for Postgraduates and Academics
The administrative department for “Internal Further Training and Counselling” offers special mentoring programmes for postgraduates and academics of all different types of studies:
This programme specifically addresses female early career researchers at the three Ruhr area universities of Bochum, Dortmund, and Duisburg-Essen. The aim is to support its female participants with individualised career planning and to provide information about the academic establishment and its structures and ground rules.
mQuadrat@RUB – Mentoring for female postdocs in medicine
This mentoring programme is designed for female postdocs and medical doctors from the Faculty of Medicine and RUB’s University Hospital. They receive support from mentors during the most important stage of their qualification – their postdoctoral thesis (Habilitation) or specialist medical training. A range of seminars to strengthen participants’ key skills rounds out the programme.
Peer mentoring for female postdocs
This service is intended for female postdocs from all Fakultäten who are aspiring to an academic career. The establishment of groups of academics from engineering and the natural sciences enables reflection on specific career paths, as well as the exchange of experiences in working in an academic environment. Seminars are available to strengthen key skills.
