Corn Pudding

(This is a vegetable dish, not a dessert)

2 Tbsp. sugar 1 1/2 Tbsp. corn starch 1 cup milk 3 eggs (beaten) 1 can (#10) cream style corn 2 Tbsp. butter 1 1/2 tsp. salt dash of nutmeg

Mix together sugar and cornstarch, gradually adding milk until smooth. Add eggs, corn, butter and salt and mix well. Turn into greased 1 quart [1 litre] baking dish, sprinkle top is nutmeg. Place pan in (a larger pan of) hot water at 300 F [150 C] for 1 3/4 hours.

This is a good ole Southern dish. I don't know where I got the recipe, but it is one of my favorites. The only trouble is that it takes so long to cook so you can't make it on the spur of the moment.
