Pennsylvania Dutch Shoofly Pie

Crumb mix

Liquid mix

1 9'' or deep dish pastry shell (unbaked)

Mix spices, shortening (or margarine) and flour for crumbs. Dissolve soda in water, mix in molasses and egg yolk. Pour into crust in layers of crumb and liquid, topping with crumbs. Bake at 400 F [205 C] to brown and reduce heat to 350 F [175 C] and bake for 30 minutes.
