About Bochum International Summer School (B.I.S.S.)!

B.I.S.S. is a Summer School, established by the Faculty of Economics at Ruhr University Bochum(RUB) in August 2010. It was primarily directed at students of Economics (BA, MA, Diploma) at RUB but students of these subjects from other universities in the area were most welcome to apply.

Since 2012 B.I.S.S. also offers a special program for international students. The program will give students from all over the world the opportunity to extend their university education at an international and intercultural campus.

As an international Summer School, we are proud to host lecturers from various countries. They offer courses they would usually teach at their own universities. Classes and exams are in English at all times.

Since the demand of past years B.I.S.S. has been huge we enlarged our program for 2012.
We now offer additional courses held by RUB lecturers. We are constantly trying to find a balanced mix of lecturers and courses both from the fields of Business Studies and Economics. With the B.I.S.S. program, we aim at enhancing the breadth of courses offered at our faculty rather than trying to cover the same topics that we already offer.

B.I.S.S. should contribute to the continuous extension of cultural openness at the RUB and to the integration of the university into the worldwide university network as well as support the
international exchange in the fields of research, knowledge and culture.

So, in addition to the B.I.S.S. course program, there will be, for the first time, a symposium dealing with “Crisis in Macroeconomics?“. In this way students will be allowed to gain an insight into an internationally recognized economist's research with reference to the present scope of tasks of Economics and to actively contribute to the discussion.

We are always open to participant feedback so that we can learn from your experiences and improve our program.

An e-learning course has already been set up for B.I.S.S. in Blackboard.
