Program for RUB Students
B.I.S.S. will offer nine classes during July 30 till August 31, 2012. Each week, several lecturers will offer their courses as one-week seminars. Class size is limited to 30 students and all classes are taught in English. As a general rule class time last from 8 a.m. till noon and from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. (individual course outlines will later be made available via Blackboard). However, due to the post-seminar workload and possible homework assignments it is advisable to plan enough time.
Each class requires a 30-hour attendance and will be credited with five ECTS points. Students pursuing a degree in the old diploma system will be credited three points. The final exams will last two hours and take place during the last week of August. Exams that are scheduled in the same week will be held on a central examination date.
The only exception will be the course “Service Innovation“ with Prof Barrett. This course is only offered for MSc students.
The final exam will take place during the first week of September. Credit points acquired during the Summer School by students of the Ruhr University are generally accepted for transfer credit. If there is a significant overlap of classes formerly taken at the Ruhr University or other institutions, credit cannot be granted. Visiting students should get advance approval of their B.I.S.S. course selection from their home institution before they enroll.
The final exams will be given and corrected by the lecturers. Since they will not be present on exam day anymore one of the B.I.S.S. staff will be there as supervisor. The exams will be sent to the lecturers. As soon as the grades are awarded they will be made available to students via FlexNow or in the form of a certificate of attendance.
