Services for Candidates and Newly Appointed Professors
Welcome Centre
The Welcome Centre offers advising and services for international researchers at RUB.
Services for families
RUB seeks to offer all of its employees an optimal working environment. That is why we have established a Family Service Office for those who are raising children or caring for family members:
Dual career families
Supporting the career planning of the partner or spouse of a newly appointed candidate is very important to us. Starting from the beginning of the appointment process, we can help.
Living in Bochum
Advertisements for vacant apartments are often published in the “Stadtspiegel Bochum” (the “Stadtspiegel” is not available for purchase in stores; it is a free paper, distributed on Wednesdays and Saturdays to Bochum residents, and often available to pick up in most stores, cafes, etc.) and in the newspaper “Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung” (WAZ). Additionally, you will find more ads for housing here (these ads have been sent in directly to RUB):
IFB
RUB unit for Internal Training and Development (IFB) – part of the Rectorate – supports all university employees with career development and training opportunities. One of their core competencies is the development of leadership and teaching skills. Some of their offers (for example coaching, team development, individual teaching advice) are specially conceived for professors. You can find more information at:
