Jobs & Thesis

Bachelor-, Master- and Ph.D. Theses

We are currently having open positions for Master, Diploma, Ph.D. as well as for Post-Docs and Student Assistants (studentische Hilfskräfte). Anyone who is interested in it can submit his/her application at any time. In addition, we are also offering topics for Bachelor-Theses. Current information is available from our co-workers.

We are offering an interdisciplinary, an international and English-speaking research area linking between chemistry, physics and engineering science in the field of new materials, nanostructure research and nanotechnology, respectively. Our intellectual and technical basis is the synthesis of inorganic/organometallic molecules.

We are a member of the “Nanostructure and Nanomaterials Centre of the RUB” as well as the “Sonderforschungsbereich (SFB) 558 – B1”. In addition, we are coordinating the “DFG-Schwerpunktprogramm 1119, CVD-Materials" and several industrial cooperation projects. Also international research collaborations are involved.

Bachelor- and Master- Theses

Topics for Bachelor- and Master- Theses (B.Sc. (1 or 2 subjects) and M.Sc. (1 or 2 subjects)) develop accordingly to our current research activities (see above). Also within the scope of the study course Master of Education (M.Ed.) you can do your Master- thesis in our group (subject: Inorganic Chemistry). Additionally, it is possible to perform the thesis together with industrial partners as well as other research institutes (also international), see Cooperations.

You can apply at any time. Please, contact our coordinators Dr. Christian Gemel or Sabine Pankau (Sekretariat). Our requirements for admission are based on the examination regulations of the faculty and subject-to specific supplementary regulations.

B.Sc. and B.A. Theses currently contain 8 credit points including writing, what makes in total about 8 weeks of working time. The topics of the bachelor theses are related to the experiments carried out in the advanced labolatory course: “F-Synthesepraktikum” (Inorganic section).

M.Sc. and M.Ed. Theses currently contain 30 (M.Sc.) and 10 credit points (M.Ed.), respectively, including writing, what makes in total about 6 months (M.Sc.) and 3 months (M. Ed.) of working time, respectively. Topics of master theses are strongly related to research and are thoroughly supervised by graduated students or other qualified scientific co-workers. Usually, the obtained results are published as an original-publication in an international journal, to which you actively contribute.

Graduate assistants and Ph.D.-positions

Ph.D. positions are continually offered. Please, get directly in touch with Prof. R. A. Fischer, Jun. Prof. A. Devi or Dr. R. Schmid.

Student Assistants

We are continually looking for the support of qualified student assistants (studentische Hilfskräfte) in Inorganic Chemistry exercises and laboratory courses for the Bachelor studies. In the scope of DFG-projects and our cooperations with industry we also can offer you the possibility of participating in current research. For further information please get in touch with Dr. C. Gemel.
