Dear CSD-System User,

We are pleased to announce the availability of the latest update to the CSD-System is now available. This updates brings new features with Mercury 3.6 as well as powerful new functionality with the CSD-Python API.

Mercury 3.6
--------------

This release of Mercury 3.6 brings the following new features:

  *  Fast and convenient generation of high quality graphics using POV-Ray rendering
  *  Easy movie generation
  *  One-click output of model files for 3D printing

This update can be obtained via the auto-update mechanism built into Mercury. If you are running Windows Vista, 7 or 8, you must ensure you start Mercury with administrator privileges. To do so, right click on the Mercury desktop icon and then select Run as... -> The following user: Administrator. 

Once started, select Help -> Check for Updates and follow the prompts to install the update. You will need write permission to the main installation folder to install this update.

An alternative method to obtain the update is to download it from the following URL:

Successful application of the update can be determined by going to Help->About Mercury and checking that it identifies itself as version 3.6.


CSD-Python API
-------------------

All CSD-System users are also now able to utilise our powerful new CSD-Python API, which incorporates:

  *  Access to the complete range of CSD functions, enabling users to embed crystallographic data analysis in tailored scripts
  *  Ability to integrate crystal data and CSD functions into 3rd party software
  *  Batch mode execution

To obtain the Python API, request a new set of CSD-System download links using your site number and confirmation code details from:

http://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/csds_downloads

Once received, you should find new links for the CSD-Python API downloads, as well as the SQLite database that it requires. You will also receive new links for all other CSD-System components you are entitled to should you need them.

Dear CSD System User,

The 'May15' CSD data update for the 2015 release of CSDS v536 is now available with 16,781 new entries for the CSD and a new data library for Mogul.

This update can be obtained via the auto-update mechanism built into Mercury. To do so, perform the following steps:

1) Start Mercury (if you are running Windows 7 or 8, you will need to start Mercury as an administrator by right-clicking on its shortcut and selecting 'Run As Administrator')
2) In the Mercury interface select Help -> Check for Updates and follow the prompts to install. You will need write permission to the CSD System installation folder to install data updates.

An alternative method to obtain the update is to download it from the CSD Data Updates link in the following web page using your CSD site number and confirmation code as username and password:

The download page will guide you through the steps required to apply the update.

Once installed the update(s) will be visible when restarting ConQuest, Mercury and Mogul.
